Road trip through New England

Rollin' Through the Northeast: Our New England Road Trip Extravaganza

Hello, fellow road trippers and adventure enthusiasts! Buckle up, grab a snack, and join us on a wild ride through the charming lanes of New England. We embarked on a spontaneous road trip, leaving the bustling streets of Boston behind and setting our GPS to the unknown. With nothing but the wind in our hair and a tank full of gas, we ventured into the heart of the six New England states.

After soaking in the historic vibes of Boston for a few days, we eagerly hit the road at the crack of dawn, leaving the city lights behind. We decided to do the northern states first (Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine), so we headed west to Vermont from Boston.

Our first pitstop? Brattleboro, Vermont. Located in southeast Vermont. It was a great strategic stop because from there we were able to head east on route 9 which happens to be the fastest route to Portland, Maine.

We found a quaint little establishment called The Works Cafe. The friendly staff and cozy atmosphere made this stop very enjoyable.

As we cruised through the picturesque landscapes of Vermont, the road led us to Concord, New Hampshire. Now when in Concord, you can't miss the State House. It's like the icing on the road trip cake. Plus, we have this quirky tradition of collecting shot glasses from every state. A quick stop at a gift shop, and boom – New Hampshire secured.

Back on the road as we head for our final stop of the day, Portland, Maine.  Nestled in the heart of Old Port, the Portland Regency Hotel and Spa welcomed us with open arms. But it wasn't just any evening – it was a night to remember at DiMillo's On the Water.

Picture this: dinner on a floating restaurant, formerly a New York car ferry. The only thing rocking more than the waves was our laughter as we devoured seafood delights and marveled at the novelty of dining on water. It was the kind of evening that leaves your taste buds and heart equally satisfied.

The following morning, we set our sights on Connecticut. Now, we're not entirely sure why we chose New Haven, but there's something magical about the open road that whispers, "Why not?" The wind decided to join the party, making our beach stroll a brief affair. Sand in our shoes and smiles on our faces, we hopped back in the car and embraced the unpredictable nature of our journey.

Rhode Island beckoned us with promises of opulent mansions and nautical wonders. Newport, with its charming streets and coastal allure, stole our hearts. The Breakers – the Cornelius Vanderbilt Mansion, is definitely a sight to see. Check out our Newport blog! Where we tour the Breakers inside and out. Click here to view

This Gilded Age gem left us utterly awestruck. From the grandeur of the architecture to the stories echoing through its halls, the Breakers transported us to a bygone era of excess and elegance. It's safe to say that snapping a selfie with this mansion was the highlight of our trip.

What A Trip!

As the sun dipped below the horizon, we bid farewell to Newport and pointed the car back towards Boston. Our New England road trip extravaganza had come to an end, but the memories of the open road, windy beaches, and gilded mansions would forever linger in our hearts.

So, fellow wanderers, the next time the road calls, don't hesitate to answer. You never know what treasures await when you're rolling through the Northeast. Happy trails!
