Milwaukee

A Weekend Getaway

Our Milwaukee Weekend Chronicles

Hey there, fellow travelers and adventure seekers! Buckle up as I take you on a wild ride through our escapade in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Now, we love a good road trip, so we decided to hit the highway for the short drive to Milwaukee. But hey, if you're feeling a bit nautical, and you live in Michigan, the Lake Express ferry from Muskegon to Milwaukee is a cool option! And get this, you can bring your vehicle along for the ride. Check out the Lake Express website for all the details and pricing – we stuck to the road, but you might fancy the waves!

Upon reaching Milwaukee, we planted our flag at the Brewhouse Inn & Suites. Now, this place is more than just a hotel; it's a piece of history. It used to be the Pabst Brewery, transformed into a luxurious inn. The beer vibes are still alive, and the walls tell tales of the good ol' brewing days. Our room, the Baron Terrace suite, was a slice of heaven with tall ceilings and a spacious terrace. It felt less like a hotel and more like our own mini apartment. Cheers to comfort!

With a skip in our step, we strolled a few blocks down to the Fiserv Forum. Our mission? Catching the Milwaukee Bucks in action! Milwaukee may not be the biggest sports market, but the energy in that arena made us feel right at home. The atmosphere inside was electric, the crowd's energy was infectious, and being part of the hoopla made us feel like honorary Milwaukeeans. A great start to our Milwaukee adventure!

The next day dawned gloomy, but who cares about a little rain? We ventured into the Deer District. Our day unfolded in local pubs, each one a cozy haven offering the finest sips of the city's brews. With drinks in hand and the company of fellow wanderers, we soaked in the camaraderie and cheer that defines Milwaukee's pub culture.

A few drinks deep, we found ourselves back at the Fiserv Forum, but this time, not for basketball. No sir, we were there for WWE. Now, we're not exactly wrestling aficionados, but when in Milwaukee, why not? The theatrical wrestling moves had us in stitches, and after a solid 45 minutes of belly laughs, we made a graceful exit. Wrestling? Checked off the bucket list.

As the sun set on our Milwaukee escapade, we headed to Shaker's Cigar Bar to cap off our journey. Originally built as a Schlitz Brewery tied house, it served as a bar for the brewery's beer. During the Prohibition era, the location transformed into a speakeasy, allegedly run by the notorious mobster Al Capone (and brothers Frank and Ralph).

We kicked back, puffed away, and relished the moment. Shaker's is a haven for cigar enthusiasts, and even if you're a novice, the ambiance and smooth drinks make it a must-visit.

What A Trip!

And there you have it, folks – our whirlwind adventure in Milwaukee, filled with laughter, cheers, and a dash of theatrical wrestling. Whether you're cruising down the highway or catching waves on the Lake Express, Milwaukee has something for everyone. So, the next time you're itching for a getaway, consider the Brew City – it's a hidden gem with a heart as warm as its cheese curds. Until next time, happy travels and keep the adventures rolling!
