Our Key West escapade began at the picturesque Casa Marina. This historic resort, with its Mediterranean-inspired architecture, exudes timeless elegance and offers a perfect blend of old-world charm and modern sophistication. 

Located on the largest private beach in Key West, Casa Marina boasts a prime location that allows guests to revel in the beauty of the turquoise waters and the soft, sandy beaches. Casa Marina pampers its guests with a plethora of amenities. The resort features a stunning oceanfront swimming pool surrounded by lush gardens, creating a tropical oasis. Private cabanas offer a luxurious retreat for guests seeking exclusive relaxation.

Latitudes, Sunset Key 

We took a ferry to Sunset Key for a dining experience at Latitudes. The ambiance was nothing short of spectacular.  As the sun dipped below the horizon, the sky turned into a canvas of fiery hues. The food was an exquisite symphony of flavors, each dish crafted with passion and creativity. With the sunset as our backdrop, it was a culinary experience beyond compare. 

Our evening at Latitudes was an amazing experience. The combination of delectable cuisine, the natural splendor of the island, and the breathtaking sunset created a memory that would forever be etched in our minds, reminding us of the unparalleled beauty of Key West and its ability to turn an ordinary evening into an extraordinary celebration of life's wonders. 

Time To Relax: But First

Our Key West journey wouldn’t be complete without a stop at the Southernmost Point Buoy. We were advised to go early in the morning when it was less crowded. So that’s what we did, and it was true. There were only a few people there, which was perfect.  Standing there, with the salty breeze in our hair and smiles on our faces, we captured a moment frozen in time. It was a testament to our incredible adventure, a memory etched in the heart of Key West. 

Next, we spent time in our private pool side cabana at Casa Marina, where Key West embraced us in pure tranquility. The gentle rustle of palm leaves provided a serene soundtrack as we relaxed on the plush sofa. A vibrant fruit tray and a fridge stocked with cold beverages kept us refreshed. The soft glow of the TV added a touch of comfort. 

Amidst our peaceful retreat, an unexpected visitor arrived – a large iguana emerged from the bushes. Its calm presence added to the natural ambiance, reminding us of Key West’s unique charm. In this oasis, laughter flowed freely, and time seemed to slow down, allowing us to truly savor the essence of relaxation. It became the epitome of serene indulgence, offering us a tranquil escape into the heart of Key West's tropical paradise. 

Feeling Beachy 

At the southernmost tip of Key West, Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park Beach is a picturesque oasis that seamlessly combines history and natural beauty. The beach, with its soft golden sands and clear turquoise waters, offers a tranquil escape from the vibrant energy of Key West. 

Historical Charm:

 The centerpiece of the park is the historic Fort Zachary Taylor, a Civil War-era fortress that echoes with tales of the past. Exploring the fort feels like stepping back in time; its weathered walls and cannons provide a glimpse into Florida's military history. History enthusiasts will appreciate the well-preserved artifacts and informative exhibits. 

The park's thoughtful amenities, including picnic areas and shaded spots, made it a comfortable retreat for families and couples alike. So, whether it’s basking in the sun, exploring the fort's nooks, or simply enjoying a leisurely stroll along the shore, the Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park Beach offered a truly immersive Key West experience. 

Cruising the Streets

Ernest Hemingway House Tour

A visit to the Ernest Hemingway House in Key West is nothing short of a literary pilgrimage. Stepping through the gates of this historic property, visitors are transported back in time to the world of one of America’s most iconic authors. The tour offers an immersive experience into the life and creative sanctuary of Ernest Hemingway. 

Historical Marvel:

The house itself is a marvel of Spanish colonial architecture, with its white-washed walls and lush gardens providing a serene backdrop. Inside, the rooms are adorned with period furnishings, many of which belonged to Hemingway himself. Every corner exudes a sense of history, making visitors feel like they are walking in the footsteps of the great writer. 

Hemingway’s Writing Studio:

A visit to Hemingway’s writing studio is a highlight for literature enthusiasts. It was in this modest yet inspiring space that Hemingway penned some of his most celebrated works. The atmosphere is thick with creativity, and visitors can almost feel the echoes of the writer’s thoughts as they stand in the very room where masterpieces were born. 

Great Tour:

Our knowledgeable guide, passionate about Hemingway’s legacy, provide captivating insights into the author’s life.  She shared anecdotes, historical facts, and intriguing details about the house, making the tour not just informative but also deeply engaging. Visitors leave with a profound understanding of Hemingway’s Key West years and the impact this period had on his literary career. 

Touring the Ernest Hemingway House is a literary journey that transcends time. It’s a chance to immerse oneself in the world of a literary giant, surrounded by the very essence of his creativity. Mallory Square: Entertainment overload 

We ventured to Mallory's Square, where the spirit of Key West truly came alive with the mesmerizing talents of street performers, magicians, and acrobats showcasing their skills, and leaving spectators in awe. Artisans display their creations, offering unique souvenirs and handmade crafts for visitors. The Bush Man was a big hit. Just watching him startle people as they walked by was absolutely hilarious.

Our taste buds were in for a treat at Amigos Tortilla Bar on Greene St. The aroma of sizzling fajitas and the crunch of freshly made tortilla chips created a symphony of flavors. From zesty guacamole to mouthwatering tacos, every bite was a celebration of culinary artistry. 

 Dolphin Cruise –Dancing on the Waves

Our Dolphin Cruise with Sebago Watersports was an absolute splash of fun. While the dolphins might have been the main attraction, the cruise also compensated with delightful refreshments and hors d'oeuvres that tantalized our taste buds.

Sipping on cool beverages, we soaked in the sun, feeling the wind tousle our hair. The crew's energy was contagious, their enthusiasm adding to the excitement of the adventure. 

In the end, the Dolphin Cruise proved that sometimes, it's not just about the destination but the journey itself. With great music, tasty treats, and fantastic company, our time on the water became a memorable chapter of our Key West adventure, reminding us that the best moments are often the unexpected ones.

As we bid farewell to Key West, we carried with us a profound sense of gratitude for the adventures we had shared. Each chapter of our journey had been a testament to the beauty of discovery and the power of togetherness.
